Okay, I've sent your characters to your message board mail accounts. They look like this:
Gender Race/Class
S(trenght).XX I(ntelligence).XX W(isdom).XX D(exterity).XX C(onstitution).XX C(harisma).XX
The rest is up to you. This includes ability adjustments, backstory, money, equipment, alignment, spells, etc. Also, as far as spells go, I think I'm going to allow use of spells from either the 70s versions of Basic or the 80s versions. There are more in the 70s editions, but there's still the same core. This only applies to two of you (the MU and the Elf), and the MU has sorta already chosen the one known spell.
Other than this, please let me know what you're thinking about for you character as soon as you can, so that I can start working your backstories into the BIG backstory.
I'm getting stoked, guys!

Well, I know the board is pretty dead of late, so maybe this won't even be seen for a few weeks. But I was thinking--and it's really just a thought--that we might start playing this game sometime soon. I still want to meet up with everyone physically to play, but it might be fun to get started with just a few rounds of back and forth live banter in character, sorta like what we did/are doing on the Bunnies & Burrows thread. Doing this might get the board a little more active than it's been in the past few weeks, and it will give us a chance to get a feel for the characters before the "real" adventure gets started. Unless someone is just absolutely dead set against this, I think we'll do it.
Before we can, though, I REALLY want a backstory from each of you. I can help you if you need, but I just want SOMETHING, ANYTHING before we get started. It will develop the overarching storylines. Any takers?

*bump!*
When do you want our backstories..? Maybe a deadline would rally everyone so we can get our game on. Also, once you've gotten our backstories, can you give us a bit of an introduction and/or give us a setting for our characters to move and breathe and interact? That might nudge us out a bit...maybe.

Yeah... that might help.
Deadline for backstories is the 5th of July, 11:26 pm.
I had planned on giving you all of that introductory material once I have the backstories. I guess I just didn't express that well enough.

Oh, yeah...
Don't post your backstories, just send them to me. I'll work it all out from there. Just remember the setting for right now--a sparcely populated but racially diverse agrarian island far from anywhere. See elsewhere on the thread for the whole nine. That should help you come up with your story, and I'll make sense of all of them from there. By the way, if your character plans on knowing the others very well (you'll all have known to some degree everyone else or someone in their immediate families, although perhaps not very well), then you might want to work on your backstories together.

Justin,
I've sent my back story as a board message. And Katie wanted me to tell you that she knows her story, but may bust your deadline. She's working on it and hopes to have it to you very soon.
Thanks for your patience!

Alrighty, then.
The deadline came and went. I have only one completed backstory and two promises. This is about half as many as I was hoping to get. I'll extend the deadline by a week. Let's shoot for the 13th of July at 6:58 am. That should be pretty fair. After that, I'm gonna start getting strangers on the street to roll up characters just to round out the party...
Did the interest just die out, or what?

As far as I can tell, there will be a grand total of THREE player characters in my campaign. The players will be Amanda, Katie, and Rickus. If anyone else out there is still interested (pweez, oh, pweez), p.m. me ASAP, 'cos I'd like to get things started this week. Jeff has been kind enough to set up a secret board for the purpose of playing this campaign. It's so secret that no one will EVER, EVER, EVER stumble upon it accidentally. It has its own URL of inordinate size and seemingly random spelling, which I will share with players only via private message. But as if that's not secret enough, it's also password-protected, and I won't share the password with anyone other than the players. So take that, all you would-be lurkers! You'll never find us! Ahaha! Victory is ours! The way I foresee us using the board is as follows: I'll post the long-winded intro in a Storyline thread, and we can get started on our character interactions right there. Anything done or said in the Storyline thread will be considered IN-CHARACTER, OVER-THE-TABLE information. Stuff that needs to be done in secret, but also in character can be handled by p.m. After we meet for a face-to-face session, we can post a summary of what took place in the Storyline thread. That way, if anyone who lives far afield (say, in McAllen, TX, Norman, Stillwater, or Tulsa, OK, the Great Eastern Boston-Washington Megalopolis, London or anywhere else in the world... these are all desparate pleas for your participation, by the way) wants to play, they can do so entirely by way of the board. If the party should splinter into multiple groups for whatever reason, then we can just start corresponding threads, such as Storyline Sub-One, Sub-Two, etc. Additionally, there will be a Knowledgebase thread for the purpose of posting info that is already known. So, for instance, if you find a document, explore a city, or learn something definite about a dungeon, we can post that sort of thing there. That way, you can always refer back to it when needed. If you want, I can post the password for my www.yahoo.com/cuppagism website for the purpose of uploading game-related images and files for this Knowledgebase thread. Plus, we'll have a General Discussion thread for routine question-and-answer banter and discussions of game mechanics. If anyone wants to post info about their character or any other topic, then we can generate as many threads as we need. I'll be private messaging any interested players with the URL and password this week, and hopefully we'll get started on the actual playing by Wednesday. If you're wanting to join us, there's still plenty of time. See you on the flipside!
