Actually, for coffee... which, if you've seen "Gigantic," you know is very, VERY important to the Johns. I don't know if you guys will even see these commercials out in the Midwest, where Dunkin' Donuts isn't on every freakin' corner, as it is in Massachusetts. They Might Be Giants provide the songs for both of these ads, and they're appropriately silly and fun. The first one, "Things I Like to Do" is a fantastically shot piece (I'm still trying to figure out how they got the camera to go the places it goes). Slate gives the ad an "A" grade, and I couldn't agree more. The line "I'm slightly more productive now than previous because/ I'm slightly more efficient than I previously was!" is stuck in my head a lot lately (the rhyme of "because" and "was" is perfect!). www.slate.com/id/2140402/www.dunkindonuts.com/aboutus/AmericaRunsOnDD.aspxThere's a new one that isn't on the website yet; it's a mom in the car with four kids, all of whom are going to some separate extra-curricular event and are appropriately attired. The lyrics consist solely of the events they're going to "Soccer! Ballet! Oboe!" with the kids mouthing the word as the camera flashes on them. And then, the mother and the kimono-clad kid sing in unison with a hand flourish "And finally, KARATE!" It's impossible in print to show how funny this is, but if they ever post it online, I'll point you to it.

I heard about this on NPR the other day and while I think both the commercial and song are very well done (I like them both quite a bit), I was a little sad to hear TMBG (or They Might Be Giants for those of you not in the 'KNOW' {Knowledge Now, Obviously With-it}) had bent over for the $chingching$.
I guess it helps to know that the like coffee, but it still feels dirty.
