If the results of the study are valid, I'd still say that religion is something that people should be free to practice. The problem with Christianity has always been Christians.

Your very correct Amanda and that's been many a person's sad reason for not wishing to get to know the one true God. Where is I where God I wouldn't wait to punish a person (to eager to get revenge I guess).
We usually come to God out of fear, but once we truely understand what he has done for us and that it's a free gift and that he has the power to keep his promises. We stay because of the love and we serve out of love, not out of fear. But some many out there just feel they have to add on all those work issues to get saved or stay saved or you thus lose everything that God promised you because you couldn't keep your end of the bargain. Notice that, that way of thinking always takes God out of the picture and makes you your own personal saviour. Kind of as stupid as trying to pull your self out of quicksand by grabbing your colar and pulling real hard. It just doesn't work.
An example of God love and mercy could be and I know this isn't the best example. Your told that when walking down lifes path that if you turn left you will end up in quicksand, well guess what we all seem to turn left and end up in the quicksand. We fight to get out under our own power but we just sink futher. Then night comes and you can't see a thing, you hear a voice that sayes if you close your hands you'll find a rope and they will pull you free. Now some of us will try to reason this out, I've been stuck here all day and night and I would have known if there was a rope or not, so I just can't believe there could be one now. Then for what ever reason other's of us will believe and thus grab hold. Then once saved we have a new set of choices, do we go back to doing what we have always done or do we let this experience mean something in our lives and try to share it (not force it on others at the point of a sword) with others.
Like I said it's not a great example, but it's something.
Take care all
