Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm on my way to Montana in the morning... Later this morning. I'm meeting Cory in Billings and then we're driving to the Bear Tooth Wilderness. I hope we're going to climb Granite Peek, 12,799 Ft. Here's a pretty good site put up by an Okie if you'd like to see what it looks like. I'll be following his route almost verbatim. www.jackieandalan.com/granite.htmlWith luck Cory & I will summit early Saturday or Sunday Morning. This will be number 32 for me and the second of the big western mountains this year. I'll try to put up another page giving you guys a blow by blow account after I return on Tuesday. Take Care!

Just a quick update from Montana. Cory and I are back down off the mountain. It's a bust. No summit. We were tuned back 200 Ft. from the summit by fierce wind gusts, bad weather outlook, and poor health. Looks like we'll be trying this one again next year.
This is the first summit I've been turned back by since 1996, so that's not too bad. So I'm still 31 down and holding.

You made it 12,599 feet higher up that mountain than any of us did. Congratulations!

As long as you and Cory make it back home safely, I think your trip was successful. Your victories have never rested so much on your surmounting the peaks as on your continuous quest to give meaning to your own life and to inspire those around you to do the same for theirs. Meaning is practice, and you have demonstrated that more clearly than anyone I have known. Every time you step out the door on one of these trips, Rick, you affirm the possibility of the goodness of the universe. And as someone who once knew you as a more cynical person, I can only say it feels wonderful to be a part of your audience.

Back in Oklahoma now. At work too, and sick at that. Thanks for the extraordinarily kind words! I almost feel like I don't have to go back after reading your posts. I will of course, next year.
I'll put up some pictures soon.
Thanks again! You guys are awesome!
