Hey Guys, I woke up with a random question. I was trying to remember all the movies that had been made in and around Pawhuska. Besides Chris’ movie, there was Wisteria, which Jessie was an extra in a year or two ago ( www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/4052 ). IMDB says that the 1997 film, A Simple Wish, did some filming there. I remember that Twister filmed on several roads in Kay and Osage county. Does anyone have a complete list of these movies…or at least remember a few more than I do? I seem to remember the City of Pawhuska hoping for a lot more films to shoot there. Ben Johnson, of course, was from Pawhuska. Did he shoot any films there? Just my first question upon waking this morning. In any case, Chris and Co. should still be able find lots of locations no one has used…well, no one has used for filming. Jeff

Oh! I forgot to mention -- I'm going to be interviewed over the phone this evening for a radio show out of B-ville, "Talk of the Town": www.bartlesvilleradio.com/kpgm/index.html ... not sure when it will air, but I'll let you know! I've been looking up info on past films in Pawhuska in case it comes up in the interview -- do any of y'all remember "A Simple Wish" shooting there (probably wouldn't have been as involved as "Wisteria: The Story of Albert Fish" was)?

Congrats Chris,
About the Twister thing. If memory serves, they filmed over on highway 177 which runs south of Ponca City. I seem to recall some of the Osage Co. HP officers being involved with blocking off the area and such. One of the stories that got back to me was that while Bill Paxton was very personable and even eager to talk to the locals who were helping out, Helen Hunt was a total bitch. Or at least that was the story that got back to me.
Cheers!

I'm sure that's because none of the locals wanted to grope Bill Paxton.

Tyler,
I don't think it had much to do with groping. It had to do with Hunt "rolling her eyes" instead of responding to "hello." And this went for both the men and women who tried to approach her.
In fairness, Paxton is from Fort Worth, so he might have felt some connection to the area.

Eeeek. Yes, that is another level of stand-offishness.
