Is American Psycho a good film? Is it a great one? I happened to have mentioned it in an earlier post and decided to watch it, again, tonight. I just finished. I think this is only my second viewing, maybe the third. Anyway, the film still feels relatively new to me. But it's a movie I can never quite decide about: I know that Christian Bale is stunning as Patrick Bateman. And I think the film successfully steers clear of being fixated on the slasher angle. But I have a harder time evaluating the quality of the satire. I always seem to get distracted by the Roskalnikov/Judah Rosenthal dilemma.
My feeling this time was that it is a very fine film, maybe one of the most underappreciated films of the decade. But hey, it's late, and what do I know. What say you?

I think I agree with you on this one Jeff. I've seen this movie 3x and each time I think, 'Wow, that's a great movie... right?' I don't know what it is about this movie, but theres a small part of me that always thinks it's not quite as good as I think it is. I just cannot explain it thought. I'm going to have to watch this movie again to figure it out. Regardless, I do think it's forgotten a lot more than it should be.
