I couldn't sleep tonight. So I wrote a song. I couldn't really sing because the fam was asleep. I would really like to hear what Justin thinks of it. www.savefile.com/files/1814516 Undoomed So sleep, my weary fighter I don’t know what holds you up This fight has been so long You fanned a mote of fire But now you must forgive yourself If someone has got burned Fate often saves an undoomed man whose courage prevails But she never puts the wind back in his sails. You fought till you weren't breathing I don’t have the energy To fight with you no more So sleep now; get to your dreaming How will you get rid of me If you don’t dream some more? Fate often saves an undoomed man whose courage prevails But she never puts the wind back in his sails.

Also in the yahoo briefcase. Don't expect too much from it as it was written and recorded in just three hours.

Great tune, bro-seph! Sounds like Elliott Smith meets Jeff Lynne. I love it!

I did two mixes of the song--not the drum or the vocal--and panned one to each ear. I think I will play with this trick a whole bunch more. Also, I think I have finally found my favorite piano samples. It's called Rain Piano www.biggagiggas.com/About%20Rain%20Piano.htm . It's a sample set from an upright with a lot of character, but not detuned too much. I just love it. I will do another 3 hour song when I get the chance. I won't flange and phaser it so much next time out. The vocals are so terrible on this track! I sincerely apologize for them, but my family was asleep and I was tired but driven to complete the song. I still haven't slept. I don't know why this song happened to me. I was heading off to bed at about 3:00am, when all of a sudden the whole idea just occurred to me. I had been talking to myself for about 30 minutes by then, so I knew I was tired enough to sleep. But after the idea hit me, I couldn't. And I knew I couldn't. I was kinda pissed off at myself. The dualism is, of course, present in the lyric. Anyway, I am glad you liked it, Justin. Your approval must be for what the song could be, not for what it is. It is, and sounds like, the product of sleep deprivation. But it could be quite good I think. Jeff

Finally, the static and the reverb were added when mixing to give the sense that it was lo-fi recorded. I wondered how you guys would feel about that.

That picture was drawn by a schizophrenic.

I wrote a little earlier that I reworked (and finished!) the entire Rearview in the Rain project. Well, Undoomed was the song that got the most work. This one is probably the only one that I'll upload in mp3 format. I realize the myspace player adds another terrible round of compression. If you want to hear mp3s of the any of the other new versions, just let me know. Anyway, Undoomed: www.savefile.com/files/1821899 And in the yahoo briefcase
