I heard BRMC just a few months ago. I had read the lyrics to their song "Sympathetic Noose" and made it a point to dl the song. I am unable to describe their music like Jeff and Justin could. I just know the voice of the songs seem to strike a chord for me. If anyone is interested in checking out their sound, they have a page on Myspace.com. www.myspace.com/blackrebelmotorcycleclub

Hey Lonnie,
I listened to their four songs on MySpace. My favorite was the first, Devil's Waitin'. I like the gospel influence on the sound. I thought this was an interesting lyric in Shuffle Your Feet: "And one for the peaceful protest that keeps the war in demand." What do you make of that?

I've been thinking about that line for a little bit of time now...and I keep thinking about Cindy Sheenan's protest of the war...and how it polarized people into two categories: One against the war, one for the war. When people came out to protest the protest against the war...a war of words of began...with words like unpatriotic being thrown around and accusations on both sides that the other ones didn't care about sacrifices the country has made since 9/11. This is only an example...I also think about the court issues in the last few yrs about removing the word "God" from the pledge, the ten commandments being removed...and how Native Americans still protest in areas re loss of land...these are all things that keep a war of opinions alive and well...And it's early in the morning, and I'm on my 1st cup of coffee...so I can only hope my words made sense even though they are not well written...

I don't really like the American Eagle store at the mall, but once a year we do hit their after Christmas sales. It's the one time of year their prices are in line with the quality of their goods. Well, a few years back, we were making our purchases at the counter, and the salesperson asked if it would be okay to put a copy of their "Spring Forward" music sampler in our shopping bag. Music, sure, whatever. I expected to hear either Perry Como or the Sex Pistols. But, no, it was mostly just some very listenable indie music. There were tracks from Built to Spill, Jonathan Richman, and "Love Burns" by BRMC. I really liked the song, but I must admit it's the only taste I've had of their music so far. Thanks for the myspace link, I'll have to check it out.

I like "Love Burns". In fact, most of the songs I've heard by BRMC, I've liked. There was a two out of the 18 or 19 songs I dl'd that I didn't really care for...I wish "Sympathetic Noose" and "Howl" had been included on the songs they chose for the myspace page. Oh well!
