www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8282160/Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer’ named top album: Spin magazine calls British band's CD the best in last 20 years I'm not so sure that I buy the rest of the list, e.g., I found P J Harvey's Rid of Me almost unlistenable: 1. "OK Computer," Radiohead 2. "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back," Public Enemy 3. "Nevermind," Nirvana 4. "Slanted and Enchanted," Pavement 5. "The Queen Is Dead," Smiths 6. "Surfer Rosa," PIxies 7. "3 Feet High and Rising," De La Soul 8. "Sign 'O' the Times," Prince 9. "Rid of Me," PJ Harvey 10. "Straight Outta Compton," N.W.A

Well, I loved the Radiohead, Pavement, and Pixies albums, and I agree that "OK Computer" was probably the best I've heard in the last 20 years (but there were plenty of other great albums produced since 1985). I only heard parts of the PE, Smiths, DeLaSoul, and Prince albums. I liked "Straight Outta Compton," but wouldn't say that I loved it. My serious dislike of "Nevermind" borders on mania. I never heard the Harvey album, but I like almost everything of hers that I've heard.
I am disappointed with the list. It seems to have all of Spin's usual cool-for-the-sake-of-cool 'tude, and I've never developed an appreciation of that. It seems to be missing some really great albums--"Skylarking," "Brotherhood," "The Joshua Tree," "Kick," "Kiss Me x3," "Flood," "Ritual de lo Habitual," "Out of Time," "Girlfriend," "Ten," "The Chronic," "Check Your Head," "Transmissions from the Satellite Heart," "Siamese Dream," "Orange," "Weezer (the blue album)," "The Downward Spiral," "This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About," "The Boatman's Call," "Dig Your Own Hole," "Keep it Like a Secret," etc.
