okay, okay...
the music plasma is a little goofy. for starters, it was like pulling teeth to get it to bring up e.l.o., and that means the site is bizarre to begin with. an entry of jeff lynne won't do it. bev bevan won't do it. the freakin' travelling wilburys won't do it. i had to get to them via roy wood (logical, but round about). next, while i realize neil young is amazing and important, and his influence can be felt throughout the music world (yes, i'd lay down my life for neil, no question), he, warren zevon, and the white stripes appear in almost every search i made, whereas the lowly beatles appear only every so often. lastly, i'd appreciate it if the colors and sizes were more meaningful, or just failing that, if they simply explained them. i can understand why the beatles' disc is large and sun-like, but warren zevon's is almost as large, whereas the rolling stones is comparatively tiny. what gives?
haven't been to music finder, yet. i'll have to try that tomorrow on break.

i like the music finder much more. evidently, i'd really enjoy the bands spoon and the postal service. and better yet, i searched for them in the music plasma, and neither neil young nor warren zevon came up. however, the white stripes did.

I dig The Postal Service. Their 2003 CD Give Up was recommended to me by David Hamby. Spoon came up on my search, too, but I haven't checked them out yet.

The Madonna Code: Searching for the perfect music recommendation system. www.slate.com/id/2121998/You don't get to actually use either system, Music Genome or Global Jukebox, but they are described.
