Here is another personality quiz: hokev.brinkster.net/quiz/default.asp?quiz=Better+Personality&page=1(Sorry that I can't get the link to work correctly. It is correct. If you paste the whole thing into your browser it will work.) I kind of liked this one because it stereotyped me as a Golden God (Wackiness: 66/100; Rationality: 100/100; Constructiveness: 100/100; Leadership: 106/100 --I have no idea what these numbers mean.) This is by far the best result I've ever gotten from a personality test--which means the stereotypes are probably arbitrarily assigned. Here is the very flattering description I got: "You are a WRCL--Wacky Rational Constructive Leader. This makes you a Golden God. You think fast and have a smart mouth, and you are a hoot to your friends and razorwire to your enemies. You hold a grudge like a brass ring. You crackle. Although you have a leader's personality, you often choose not to lead, as leaders stray too far from their audience. You probably weren't very popular in high school--the joke's on them! You may be a rock star." I can see how fortune-tellers make money now.

My results are as follows (do we get do-overs? I dunno if I can live with being called a tool.) --
"You are a SRDF--Sober Rational Destructive Follower. This makes you a Fountain of Knowledge.
You are cool, analytical, intelligent and completely unfunny. Sometimes you slice through conversation with a cutting observation that causes silence and sidelong glances. You make a strong and lasting impression on everyone you meet, the quality of which depends more on their personality than yours.
You may feel persecuted, as you can become a target for fun. Still, you are focused enough on your work and secure enough in your abilities not to worry overly.
You are productive and invaluable to those you work for. You are loyal, steadfast, and conscientious. Your grooming is impeccable. You are in good shape.
You are kind of a tool, but you get things done. You are probably a week away from snapping.
Addendum, 2004/07/19: this fits me 99%, there is a slight inaccuracy however. We are not necessarily completely unfunny. If we have a sense of humor (I do) it surfaces on the occasion with well-timed, completely dry, very sarcastic, wit. - Chase
Of the 132654 people who have taken this quiz since tracking began (8/17/2004), 7.5 % are this type. "

I don't know who Jenny Turpish is, but she likes me. Just took the relationship quiz: hokev.brinkster.net/quiz/default.asp?quiz=Better+Relationship&page=1And I was rated an XPIG--though my wife would question the ex part--Expressive Practical Intellectual Giver. "This makes you a Catch." Riiiight. I hope you guys take these quizzes just to feel really positive about yourselves for five minutes--not that you shouldn't feel that way all the time!

My human being score is 83.25--but that quiz was obviously for girls. It asked me how bitchy I was. And it left off "Bitchier than my mother" as a possible answer. Gaaa!

My humor is SGT Sunny, Gross and Traditional (Active 7/10), a la John Hughes. Yikesabee, Jenny did get one slap in, as I really haven't liked any of his movies since I could drive without an adult in the passenger's seat.

Battle Ground God:
Of course I selected God exists. After that only question #14 is a poser. Here is what I got:
"You have reached the end!
Congratulations! You have made it to the end of this activity.
You took zero direct hits and you bit zero bullets."
This would be a great quiz for literalists to take. But I think they would mostly say, "I don't care how consistent my beliefs about God are. They are all Biblical." But as we all know, it is impossible to say that without some appeal to consistency. Right, Adam and mom?

I made it to the end of Battleground God, but I took a hit (or was it a bullet?). That's what not paying attention will getcha, I s'pose. I'd be interested in Adam's results and comments... Where is he, anyway? Have you heard from him?

I have not. I had hoped that I would see him in Pawhuska over Father's Day weekend, but due to my penchant for magical thinking, I made no actual arrangements with him. See where these God beliefs get you!

As for Staying Alive...this quiz is not nearly so interesting as it doesn't really probe what makes a set of responses to its three questions into a theory. For example, although I survived it said that the reason I did was because I believed in an immaterial soul. And I do not, at least not in a standard Christian way. So, keep in mind that this quiz is a very blunt instrument. Battlefield God is better!
My choices: Round 1: It's the spaceship for me! Round 2: Let the virus do its worst! Round 3: Let my body die!
If I just switch Round 3 to Freeze Me!, the quiz predicts that I believe bodily continuity is necessary for personal identity. (And that is not quite right either. There is an assumption by the makers of this quiz that soul and body are distinct.)

I survived Staying Alive, but 'they' said my survival was problematic in at least one of my choices (which were as follows: Round 1: It's the spaceship for me!Round 2: I'll take the silicon! Round 3: Let my body die!).
Results: Your choices are just about consistent with the view that the continuity of the soul is essential for personal survival. Your first choice showed a desire to keep your physical body alive. Your second choice, in contrast, showed a willingness to have your body replaced by synthetic parts to preserve your psychological continuity. Your last choice showed a willingness to jettison your physical body and end psychological continuity in order to save your soul.
There is something troubling about these choices. First, the tracking of the soul seems a bit erratic. In the first choice, it followed the physical body, but on the second it followed psychological continuity. So it seems there is no reliable way of deciding where the soul goes - does it follow the body or psychological continuity? Secondly, the soul seems rather an empty self. It is a self that needs no thoughts, beliefs or memories to exist. It is rather a kind of immaterial home for thoughts, emotions, beliefs and so on. Do you really think the self is such a thing?

The art quiz was not very useful to me. I wonder if you guys will have the same experience. I didn't even learn much about the implications of my aesthetic principles. Here is what I got--though anyone who knows me might have guessed:
"The winner is Shakespeare with 65 points. Mozart only scored 57 points."
Part of the problem is the comparison task. If you ask me to rate my aesthetic criteria against each other, then ask how I would rate, say, adherence to the formal features of literature against adherence to those of music, aren't you really just asking, which is more aesthetically pleasing on this criterion, the best literature or the best music? Thus the quiz, at least in my own case, reflects a verbal bias, since most of my clarity is verbal clarity. But the truth is, I value music more than literature precisely because it affects me in ways that I cannot fully clarify yet deem highly valuable. Good music is as close to mysticism as I usually get. It is sublime in a way that words only approach through poetry.
Plus the desert island question really threw me. I picked Shakespeare because I would need a record player, or CD player, or a complete symphonic orchestra to pick Mozart. (Mike could probably get as much enjoyment just looking at Mozart's scores, but I am not nearly so musically advanced.)
So, I didn't get much out of this one.
Here is how I rated the aesthetic criteria, but I did this rather too quickly I think. Also, I hesitated about posting this since I think I view art in a rather odd way for which you guys are certainly welcome to take me to task:
-The work displays great technical ability 3 - Quite Important -The work is enjoyable 2 - A Little Important -The work conveys the feelings of the artist 3 - Quite Important -The work conveys an important moral lesson or helps us to live better lives 1 - Not Important -The formal features of the work are harmonious and/or beautiful 4 - Very Important -The work reveals an insight into reality 5 - Vital

"Second, the soul seems rather an empty self. It is a self that needs no thoughts, beliefs or memories to exist. It is rather a kind of immaterial home for thoughts, emotions, beliefs and so on. Do you really think the self is such a thing?"
This is my own favorite criticism of the idea of a soul. For most people the soul is no more original or interesting than a stone. It really is just an immaterial projection of the body. But you needn't hold a silly view like that to believe in spirit or self. Again, this quiz wasn't so useful.
I think the quality of the quizzes is reflected perfectly in the order in which you posted them.
